Clean makeup look

If you’re a regular user of apps such as TikTok or Instagram, you may have noticed the latest trend of the ‘clean makeup look’ which has been circulating. The idea of the clean makeup look is that you are still applying makeup, but it looks like you’re not wearing any. So essentially, it’s another way of saying the ‘no makeup makeup look’.

Personally, I have been wearing less and less makeup, especially since the start of the pandemic. I have felt a lot more comfortable in my own skin and have been looking after it better. This means that I have felt that I don’t need to wear as much makeup as I used to before. Some days, I am happy to just apply my SPF and leave the house with nothing else on my face. However, for the days whenI do want to make a bit of an effort, I’ve been adopting the clean makeup look.

This really minimal makeup look, takes me around ten minutes to apply in the morning. I start off with a really light base, usually a BB cream or colour correcting moisturiser. I’ll then add some concealer under my eyes to cover up my dark circles and I’ll set everything into place with a pressed powder.

Once my base has been done, I’ll lightly fill in my eyebrows so they don’t look too over done but just appear to be a bit more visible and tidy. I will add a bit of mascara on my eyes to open them up a bit more and finish off with a bit of highlighter on my cheekbones. Although I do really love a bold, glowy highlighter, I have been using a more subtle one from Physicians Formula recently. The Physicians Formula Mineral Glow is meant to be used as a setting powder, however I have been using it as a subtle highlight. This looks great on top of the cheekbones, under the eyebrows and even dotted in the corner of the eyes. I find that it really finishes off the clean makeup look and helps me to nail the trend.

This is my everyday look for work, shopping, meeting friends etc. If I ever want to improve on the look for a fancier occasion, then I do so by adding eyeliner and pink lipstick. I always use a liquid liner to get the perfect wings, I think that Physicians Formula have one of the best pen style liquid eyeliners around. For lipstick, I have been loving the Clinique chubby stick. It’s easy to keep in my handbag in case I need to apply on the go and really transforms the look.
