When it comes to shoes, my very favourite brand has to be Dr Martens. So, when I was contacted by Footway and asked if I would like to review a pair of shoes off their website, I knew straight away that I was going to choose some DMs. Dr Martens aren’t just chunky black lace-up boots (although, I do love my pair!), they have so many different styles to suit everyone. I already had seven different pairs of DMs, including the classic 1460s, Chelsea boots and a pair of sandals. When it came to choosing a new pair, I decided to have a look at the shoes. Although I was first drawn to the classic black ones, these Joyce Heart brogues were calling out to me.

Breaking in Dr Martens
Breaking in a new pair of Dr Martens can be a bit of a nightmare. Out of all of my eight pairs, I still have three pairs that aren’t fully broken in yet. The best thing to do, is just wear them around the house with a couple of pairs of thick socks and stock up on plasters. With my t-bars, I was determined to wear them for a trip to Paris, so I wore them as much as I could for two weeks straight. They will hurt and you will get blisters but trust me, it’s worth it. Once you’ve broken in your DMs, they will be the comfiest shoes you own.
How I styled the Dr Marten Joyce Heart brogues

I’ve been choosing to wear trousers a lot recently, instead of jeans and I’ve found that my DM Chelsea boots don’t look right with them. I wanted a pair of shoes that I could wear with these trousers but also with jeans, skirts and dresses. These shoes are a take on the classic brogues in white, with a red heart on the front. Luckily, white and red are really easy colours to wear so they will go with a lot of my outfits.
As soon as I received the shoes, I just had to get some photos of them. I decided to wear my favourite trousers from New Look along with a slogan t-shirt (this particular one is from H&M) and my grey beret. This is just a typical, comfy outfit that I’d wear to pop into town or go to uni. Usually I’d wear a pair of trainers but I love the way the Dr Martens look. I feel that they smarten the whole thing up a bit and make it a bit more special. Next time I wear them, I should probably choose some better socks!
What’s your favourite shoe brand? Do you have any pairs of Dr Martens?
