It looks like we’re finally going to have a bit of summer in the UK soon. We’ve had such a miserable month, but a heatwave has been rumoured. I can’t wait to get my summer clothes on, wear more bright colours and get out the bright lipstick. There’s something about summer colours that just lifts up your mood!

Skincare prep
The best way to prep yourself for the summer is investing in products that contain antioxidants for skin. I like to use a body scrub once a week in the shower and use a shower gel that I know is going to leave my body clean and moisturised. There’s nothing like coming out of the shower feeling glowy and wonderful!
I have recently been trying out a new toner by Cosrx which is a brand that I had heard a lot about from my friends. The Cosrx AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner is a new product in my skincare routine. I simply spray it onto one of my reusable cotton pads and apply it to my face after cleansing and before moisturising. Since using this, I have found that my skin has become a lot smoother and looks brighter too.

Makeup
When I switch my makeup over for the summer, I always make sure I go for brights. I don’t tend to wear bright colours during the colder months, so I fully embrace them when it’s warmer. As well as getting out the brighter eyeshadows, this year I’ve decided to try out a brightly coloured blusher. One brand that I’ve been wanting to try for a while is XX By Revolution. I picked up the XX by Revolution XXCESS Blush in the shade Cynic. This is a lot brighter than any others that I have tried, but I find that if you apply it with a light hand then it gives a really beautiful wash of colour. It really brightens up the look.
When it comes to lipstick, I have a massive collection of bright colours that I can choose from. I have a couple of bright reds including one from L’Oreal that I love. I’m also a big fan of the Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink liquid lipsticks – I have a bright pink that I use regularly in the summer. They stay on well under a mask too, which is a bonus!
If I don’t feel like wearing a lipstick, then I’ll usually just go for a lip balm to keep my lips moisturised and glossy. I find that my lips can get quite dry when wearing a mask for a long time.
