Style Seeker Challenge at the Bullring, Birmingham

On Saturday, I was invited to take part in a style challenge with the Bullring and FU Media. If you’ve been to the Bullring before, then you might be aware of the Bullring Plus app. This app is an essential if you are going to be shopping in the Bullring or Grand Central as it contains guides to all of the shops and restaurants, handy maps and also feature vouchers and offers when available. It is well worth downloading it next time you are visiting.

Style Seeker

One of the newest features to the Bullring Plus app is the Style Seeker. The Style Seeker allows you to take a photograph of an outfit that you like, whether it be from a magazine or something you have seen on a person or a mannequin, it then suggests similar items which you can purchase in the Bullring or Grand Central. This is such a handy little tool, especially if you see an outfit that you can’t afford, the Style Seeker can help you to find a cheaper alternative that is more budget friendly.

The style challenge

FU Media invited a few bloggers to the Bullring and set us a style challenge. We weren’t told anything about the challenge until we had all arrived, so I didn’t know what to expect. We had to choose a gold envelope which would contain the theme of our style challenge. Inside the envelopes there were three themes, Animal Print, Metallics and Tweed. I was really pleased to see that the trend I had chosen was Animal Print. Animal prints are a big trend this season and I already own a couple of pieces of leopard print already. I think that I probably would have struggled with Metallics but Tweed would have been fun as I love a good tweed blazer.

Using the Bullring Plus app, I took a photo of the outfit that was on my card and a list of similar items was brought up. I had a look through these to get some ideas before I decided where I was going. We only had an hour to do the challenge. It was more like 40 mins for me once I had nipped to John Lewis to buy an SD card, I can’t believe I forgot mine! I decided that it would be best to stick to just one shop. The app showed that New Look have a lot of different animal prints in at the moment. Often, when people think of animal print, leopard is the first thing that comes to mind. However, you can find so many more types of animal print including snake and zebra.

My animal print picks

Once I got to New Look, I picked up a few different animal print pieces. I also chose some plain items to go with them. I did plan on pairing the leopard print jumpers with a plain skirt and the leopard print skirt with the grey top I was already wearing. That all went out of the window when I found the pink snakeskin skirt. I wouldn’t usually have thought to mix two different animal prints in one outfit until now. I love how this leopard print jumper and snakeskin skirt look together. The pink in the jumper really compliments the pink of the skirt. I think that it is a great, bold look if you are feeling daring.

I also think that wearing two different leopard prints is a great look too. At the moment, I don’t have two separate pieces that I can put together at home. However, I am really wanting to get a leopard print jumper to go with the red leopard print culottes that I have.
