Now we’re in June, I’ve switched up my products for my summer makeup routine. When I do choose to wear makeup in the summer months, I usually go for a simpler look. I find that less is definitely more, so it is better to keep things simple.
Summer makeup – Eyes
Starting with my eyes, I make sure that I keep up with tinting my eyebrows so that they don’t require many products. A quick brush through with an eyebrow gel will help to keep them tidy during the day. The Anastasia Beverley Hills Brow Gel is a personal favourite because it makes my sparse brows look fuller.

To help make my eyes look bigger and more awake, I tend to choose a lengthening mascara. I have very straight eyelashes, so I will either use an eyelash curler or I have my lashes lifted at a salon. When I have had my lashes lifted, they just need a decent mascara to complete the look. The L’Oreal Lash Paradise mascara adds length and volume which really helps to open my eyes up more. It’s the perfect addition to my summer makeup. I have found that this mascara doesn’t smudge all over my face when I get a bit sweaty, which is a bonus! This mascara is also very budget friendly at under £8.
Base makeup

When it comes to a base in my summer make up routine, I tend to just stick to something light. I have been opting for a BB cream instead of a standard foundation. The advantage of BB creams is that they are a lot lighter and often contains moisturising and blemish fighting ingredients. One that I have been using a lot recently is the Skin79 Dark Panda BB Cream. This contains SPF 50 which is perfect for the summer. It is so important to always wear a facial SPF. When rubbed in with my fingers, this BB cream really helps to even out my skin tone. As it is a BB cream, it also leaves my skin feeling moisturised.
Luckily for me, my skin tends to be quite clear most of the time, so I don’t need a lot of concealer. I only tend to use a concealer under my eyes to hide my dark circles. One of my favourite concealers for this that I have purchased time and time again is the Maybelline Instant Anti Age Eraser. I love the shade 05 Brightening which is a pink toned shade that is perfect for brightening up the under eyes.
I don’t use a lot of powder these days, as I find that it can look quite heavy. However, when it is warm I do use some to set my under eyes and my t zone. A decent transluscent powder can help to set your makeup even in the warmest climates.
