When it’s warm outside, I don’t want to spend too long doing my makeup because it will just melt off. Instead, I focus on my summer skincare to keep my skin looking as good as I can. I like to switch up my skincare routine in the different seasons to suit my skin’s needs.
Cleansing
First of all, it’s important to make sure you cleanse your skin every evening, even if you’re not wearing makeup. Of course, you won’t need to use a heavy duty makeup remover, but some sort of cleanser should be used. For my summer skincare, I tend to go for either a gel or a cream cleanser. This is to wash away any dirt and grime that has collected on your face during the day and also your SPF. If you’re starting with a clean, fresh base then you will have beautiful glowing skin.
Toning
In the summer, I like to use a spray toner that I can also keep in my handbag. Recently, I’ve been using the Mario Badescu Toning Facial Mists which are the perfect size to carry around with me. As well as toning my face, these are great to spritz your face during the day if you feel like you need to refresh. The Mario Badescu toners contain cosmetic ingredients that leave your skin feeling refreshed, but not stripped. A good ingredient for toning is tea tree oil, which is great for clearing up blemishes.
Moisturiser
I always make sure I moisturise during the summer, even if it does make me feel a bit sweaty sometimes. Dry skin can occur in any weather on my face, so it’s important that I try to combat that. I tend to lean towards a lighter moisturiser during the day and have a few that I like to switch between.
Blemishes
If I get any blemishes in the warmer months, it’s usually around my chin. I’ve seen a lot of people using spot patches on Instagram, so I decided to get a pack for myself. I picked up a set from I Heart Revolution. The I Heart Revolution Heartbreakers Cleansing Face Strips are small, heart shaped stickers for your blemishes. You simply apply one to the affected area and leave it to do its job. Each sticker is loaded with salicylic acid and tea tree oil to reduce the size and appearance of your blemish. So far I haven’t been brave enough to use these out of the house, but I think I could definitely get away with it. They’re cute enough! They are also vegan and cruelty free, which is a win.
